Seeds: We are gardeners! We are using what we know about weather to figure out lots about what plants need to grow. We have observed many kinds of seeds and noted their similarities and differences. The class told me that if I plant a sunflower seed it will grow a sunflower not any other kind of plant! Students have planted beans in our own homemade greenhouses. We have also planted sunflowers, pumpkins and beans in a root view farm so we can see what is happening in the soil not just above it.
We planted the beans and root view seeds last Friday and when we went in Monday we saw roots and even a small sunflower stem! We will also plant morning glorys and write in our scientific seed journal to note our observations. We are also reading lots of books about plants and learning about the parts of plants.
Concert: We have been practicing our concert in Integrated Arts with Mrs. Ricciardi, in our own classroom and on the risers set up in the cafeteria and I have to say, you are in for a treat Thursday night!
Math: We are practicing subtraction! We are learning that subtraction is the opposite of addition and have been playing many subtraction games. One of our favorites so far is subtraction smash where we tell number stories and smash playdoh balls to find the answer!
