October 21

Math:
We continue to learn about shapes, days of the week, months of the year, seasons, oral counting, number identification and other number sense concepts. We made shape pizzas and practiced accurately counting and writing numbers. We also played a dice roll game and practiced writing numbers 1, 2 & 3. Did you know that if we can learn to accurately write numbers 0-9 we can write any number?

Literacy:
Last week we read lots of books with the number three in them and not only engaged in some three math activities but some literacy ones as well! We read the Three Billy Goats Gruff, made our own billy goats and retold the story. We also read Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Goatilocks and the Three Bears!

We also went on a password hunt in our room and wrote down any hidden passwords, did some rainbow writing of our passwords and sang password songs.

Letters and sounds introduced so far include: t, b, f, m, n, i, u, c, o, a, g, d & s.

Science:
We read a great book called The Leaf Man and then collected some beautiful leaves from outside. Next, we made our own leaf people and animals. We also used year and paper plates to sew an apple or pumpkin. We are a creative bunch!
